It is a word used commonly in today’s business circles, but is it what we really need? Is it truly being accomplished?
The definition of innovation is something newly introduced, such as a new method or device. The keyword in the definition is new. Just about everyone in the western world would like to have the newest of everything, so in the business world we are continuously finding ways to be fresh, the latest and greatest.
My first question posed above is if we really need innovation. Well, it depends on what we see as innovation. As consumers, if we are just looking for something new, then the answer is a resounding “No”, especially in today’s economy. Unfortunately, we as consumers like newness and don’t always see the cost of something new. We sure complain later though when the price of a service goes up.
